Please check for your child’s rehearsal time and show time. If your child is in the 1pm show, dress rehearsal will be on Friday. If your child is in the 3:30 show, dress rehearsal will be on Saturday.

Dress Rehearsal: It is important to arrive on time as we do not start until everyone arrives. When you arrive you will check in with a Parent Helper and sit with class for instructions. As in years past we will be doing a finale with the whole cast and we will run this first before rehearsing the show. Dress rehearsal will then run in order of the show and classes will be dismissed after rehearsing on stage. If your daughter is 3 or 4 yrs old, she will most probably be in the 1st part of the show and rehearsal should not be longer than one hour for them. Dress rehearsal is not drop off (except for middle and high schoolers) and children must have an adult responsible for them.

Children will arrive dressed in costume, pink footed ballet tights, clean ballet slippers and hair in bun. Please bring a sweater or cardigan that can be worn if chilly in the auditorium. There is no food allowed in the auditorium. There will be some wait time so you may want to bring a book, cards or simple game. Younger siblings are not allowed to run around the auditorium. Dress rehearsal is a wonderful opportunity to get as many photos and videos as you would like and you can move freely around the auditorium unlike show time.

Costumes: Students will arrive in costume for dress rehearsal and show wearing pink footed ballet tights, clean ballet slippers (with strings tucked in), jazz or tap shoes and hair in bun. Please no jewelry, makeup, perfume, hair glitter or additional accessories that do not come with
the costume.

We will have a bun making class for Preschoolers for moms and caregivers who need assistance the week of May 19h the last 15 minutes of class. Please bring hair piece that comes with costume as well as hair brush, donut, hair net, pins, etc. Video tutorial for bun making with a donut. We recommend using a donut if your daughter has thin short hair. Video tutorial without a donut. If your child is in Kinder or above and you need assistance with bun making, please email me. Costumes will be given out as they arrive within the next couple of weeks. Please make sure to check out the costume bag for any accessories within and hang the costume up outside the bag and fluff out the tutu. If you need a new pair of pink tights we sell them for $10 cash.

Tickets: Tickets are sold to offset the cost of the production, ie: theatre rental, sound and lighting crew, union custodial fees, fire warden, police, parking attendants, production costs, etc. Tickets will go on sale in the lobby of the YW before and after class time during the week of May 19th. Tickets are $25 for children and adults prior to show and $30 at the door payable by cash or
check made out to Darien School of Dance.

Performance day: Out of consideration for the performers and fellow audience members, please do not bring babies under 2 years. We will also have a live feed of the performance in the lobby for younger children who may need to leave the auditorium during the show. Students performing in the show and Parent Helpers do not need tickets. Show time is approximately one hour and seating is general admission. We open the doors 30 minutes to show time.

Video: Our amazing show will be professionally videotaped and every student student enrolled will receive an online digital link. There is no videotaping or photo taking during the performance.

Show Day, June 1st: Please bring your child a half hour before show time in full costume and hair in bun. Parents will check in with the front desk and one parent will escort their child backstage to the large music room where you will again check in with the class mom who will take care of the class during show time. There will be videos playing and coloring sheets so the children will be occupied. Please bring no food or juice. Only water bottles are allowed. All of the students will be performing in the finale so pick up of your dancer will be in the dressing room area following the show. Please make sure to check out with your class mom/Parent Helper when leaving the dressing room.

We look forward to creating a memorable experience for all!
